Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)?

The ACP provides households a discount of up to $30/mo.—or up to $75/mo. if your household is on qualifying tribal lands—on Internet service. The ACP replaces the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. It helps low-income households pay for Internet services.

What are the income requirements?

To qualify for the ACP based on income, a household must have income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. The guidelines for 2022 are available from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

How will I receive the funds each month?

The federal government pays your Internet provider directly, so you won't receive any funds. After the ACP credit is applied, you are responsible for paying any amount that remains on your bill.

What if I have a past-due balance? Can I still apply?

Yes. Customers with past-due and collection balances are still eligible for the program.

Am I eligible if I’m currently a customer, or was one in the past?

Yes. The program is available to existing, prior, and new customers.

What if my roommate is enrolled in the program? Can I still participate?

Eligibility is limited to one discount per household. The federal government defines a household as “any individual or group of individuals who are living together at the same address and share income and expenses.” More information is available on the ACP website or on this flyer.

How long will the benefit be available?

The discount will remain available until ACP funds are exhausted.
